4 Steps to Creating a Language Challenge

  • May 1, 2023

Have you ever started something but never finished it?

If I had a dollar for every time I challenged myself in hopes that I’d make a lot of progress quickly, and then that would turn into a full-blown habit, I would be rich. I mean doing snow angels in a pile of dollar bills RICH.

But the thing is, I know I’m not alone. If we all followed-through on the challenges and goals we set for ourselves, we’d all have rockin’ bods, speak 12 languages fluently, eat healthy every day, and read 52 books a year… but unfortunately, that’s not reality, because following through is (to put it simply) hard. In this week’s video, I’ll be going through a 4-step, fool-proof way to create a language challenge for yourself. And the best part is, these steps could really be applied to any kind of challenge you want to set for yourself. So if you’re still thinking about how to get that rockin’ bod (for REAL this time), then make sure to check out the video below!

But first, a little disclaimer…

This challenge formula only works if you do the work

So here’s a little encouragement:

A while back I went to see an off-broadway production of Anastasia. (I’ll never forget just how over-the-moon excited I was)! Because of that buzz-kill covid, the show has been postponed two years in a row. But when the time finally came and I was sitting in one of those red velvet seats, I had to use all of my internal strength not to sing along to every. single. song.

Not only was the animated movie one of my favorites growing up, but when I was on my study abroad in Grenoble, France I listened to the newly released Anastasia Broadway soundtrack on repeat as I rode my bike to and from l’Université de Grenoble Alpes and back to my apartment in the center of the city nearly every day. And that my friend, is why I can quote this line to you from the song “Learn to Do It” by heart—

If I can learn to do it—you can learn to do it. Something in you knows it. There’s nothing to it! Follow in my footsteps—shoe by shoe. You can learn to do it too!

- 2017 Broadway Production ANASTASIA the Musical - Learn to Do It Lyrics Tweet

On that perfectly in-tune note, if you’ve been needing the formula on how to create a language learning challenge for yourself so that you can finally stay consistent and reach fluency, then check out the video below that I made just for you.

After you watch the video, I want to know, have you tried a language challenge before? If so, what was it and how did it go for you? Let me know in the comment section down below!

And until next week, remember that progress is more important than perfection, and if I can learn to do it, you can learn to do it too.
